What causes Japanese high suicide rate

Japanese suicide rate is high. In 2010, the amount of people who commits suicide is 31,690, the amount has kept over 30,000 for over 13years. So what makes this happen? After research, we find that there are mainly three reasons causing this: traditional culture, working pressure and family education.
Japanese traditional culture about judging suicide is the main reason for people’s suicide.Japanese think suicide a behavior to be proud of. If a Japanese has killed himself, nobody will look down on him.Suicide is though to be a way to take responsibility and protect their honor. Japanese consider failure an extremely shameful thing, thus suicide becomes the only way to face failure. For example, if a company was broken, what the boss most probably will do is taking his own life rather than consider how to succeed again. Suicide is also a way to faced the fate. For instance, commit ritualistic is very popular among warriors in ancient Japan, thinking it is fate.
Extremely high working pressure makes Japanese anxious all day long. In Japan, only males will work outside for their family’s life, while females stay at home to do housework and look after kids. This undoubtedly makes males’ pressure rather high. Moreover, influenced by national spirit, Japanese think everything about work . They work cautiously for the whole day and tolerate everything and thus lots of pressure accumulate. For example, in restaurants or supermarkets and so on, you will see every waiter smiling to you constantly and being very cautious when he works first time. In Japan, people will not argue with their customers even it is the customer who has fault, they will only apologize or explain again and again. Up till now we can see Japanese suffer very high work pressure, but the ways to relieve them are rare. They won’t share their annoyance with their colleagues usually, as they must show respect to them and can’t trouble them. Go for a trip is a good way to relieve pressure but many Japanese don’t have enough time to do this. As a result, work pressure becomes higher, causing suicide more often.
Japanese family education makes people not willing to ask others for help, causing suicide behavior become more common. In the affect of family education, Japanese think highly of others and don’t care much about themselves. Bothering others is consider as a shameful thing, and children are asked to learn to tolerate when they are likely to bring trouble to other people. The direct effect is that if someone meets something depressed or has high pressure, he will not ask others for help, even the people is his family! What’s more, Japanese would rather do something by their own even it is difficult for them than ask people who can easily solve it for help, which also causes Japanese’s life become hard. Because Japanese don’t like to trouble others, many people will not let others notice their abnormality before they commit suicide. This makes rescue work become rather difficult and in a way increases the suicide rate.
As a developed country, Japan has many beauties. But its ideas about suicide, heavy work pressure and awareness of troubling others is shameful, which is develop since childhood, results in its rather high suicide rate, making all of us feel regret for it. We hope that Japan will be better and everyone in the world can cherish life.
